The Story of the greedy boy starts with twin boys, Paul and Thomas. They were identical twins that even their parents couldn’t recognize them. Although the twins looked identical, Paul and Thomas had different personalities. While Paul was quiet and had few friends, Thomason the other hand, was quite popular.

Thoman had several friends, and he often hung out with them. Paul had a sweet tooth. He loved to eat lots of sweets. Meanwhile, Thomas was a very picky eater, and he loved to eat spicy food. Between the two of them, Paul was his mom’s favorite while Thomas was his father’s favorite.
While Paul would give away some of his items, Thomas would keep all of what he had. One day, their father planned to equally share his wealth between his sons. However, Thomas wasn’t happy with his father’s decision.
Thomas argued that whoever amongst them proves himself to be stronger and more educated would then get the bigger share of the fortune. Hearing this, Paul disagreed with this and proposed his own plan. He said that who ever walked the fastest who get the bigger share of the fortune.
However, their father suggested a better competition between them. He said that whichever one of them walked the furthest before sunset and then return home would get the bigger fortune. Meanwhile, the one who lost the competition would get less portion.
Before the competition, the boys were not allowed to track the time or wear any watches. The following day, Paul and Thomas were ready for their walk. The sun shone brightly as the boys started their walk. Paul started his walk slowly and steadily, meanwhile Thomas, on the other hand, started sprinting as he was eager to win the bigger fortune.
Paul knew that it would be best for him to walk as far as he could until it was in the afternoon and then start from his home. This was because it was the same time it took for him to reach home. Paul then decided to go back home when it was in the afternoon to arrive on time.
Meanwhile, Thomas was still sprinting because he was so determined to make more money. In his quest to earn more fortune, Thomas had lost track of time. He realized too late that he had little time left before he reached home.
Thomas then walked twice as Paul, and he thought he would be able to make it home before sunset. It wasn’t until the sky turned orange did Thomas realized that it was late and he started running home. Unfortunately for Thomas, the sun had set, and the sky had turned. He then realized that he had lost the race.
Moral Lesson from The Story of the Greedy Boy
Through Paul and Thomas, the story demonstrates how relentless greed produces adverse results, along with the significance of practicing patience. The desire for more wealth in the inheritance led Thomas to rush through without checking the time.
Through his collected nature Paul managed to base his decisions on his thorough understanding of the challenge. Guilty choices made through hasty greed will result in failure whereas deliberate approaches lead to success.
The story shows that genuine triumph emerges from the approach we take to reach goals rather than only the rewards we seek, while showing us the value of proper planning and measured progress through life.
