The story of the camel and the zebra is a classic tale about two friends. These friends were animals and they were a zebra and a camel.
Although these animals were quite different, they got along pretty well. Every animal in the forest knew of the zebra and the camel’s friendship and that they were best friends. However, one of the animals thought that he was better than the rest and this was the zebra.
The zebra had stripes in his skin which were black and white and it looked quite glamorous. Because of this, he thought that he was much better than his friend the camel. The zebra thought this his friend was unattractive because he had brown skin.
The camel had humps, huge eyelashes, and feet that were quite weird. One fateful day, the camel invited his friend over, to come and spend time with him. The zebra who thought of himself as a superior creature turned down his friend’s request.
The zebra thought that he was far too majestic to play in the mud. He told his friend that his stunning skin would get dirty and because of that he won’t be able to play in the mud with him. Hearing this, the poor camel was quite sad and he sat alone.
The camel thought that his friend was ignoring him and so he played alone. After a few days, there was a drought in the land and all the waters had dried up. All the tortoises who complained that there was no water in the lakes also and this was where all the animals in the forest would get their water from every day.
The drought in the land worried the zebra and while he was thinking of how to get water, he laid eyes upon a donkey who was carrying water. The donkey was carrying buckets filled with water on his back and he asked the donkey if he could give some.
When the zebra asked, the donkey hesitated because he wanted buckets of water all to himself. So, the zebra went to meet his trusty friend to ask for some water. His friend told him that he would take him somewhere they could find water.
This response surprised the zebra because he was shocked at how calm the camel was in a difficult situation. The camel then told his friend that he didn’t like what he said about the hump on his back. He told the zebra that the hump on his back where to store water.
The camel said that he would use the water for weeks and he also explained how his ugly feet has his friend had described before. He said that his feet would make it easy for him to pass through the scorching sand in the desert.
This made the zebra sad because he didn’t have such feet to help him walk through the scorching sand and there wasn’t any eyelash to protect him. Despite his harsh remarks to his friend, the camel still helped the zebra and he even protected him. The zebra thanked his friends and soon after the drought was over.
