The story of the cobra and the crows starts in the forest. In the forest, there lived two crows and they were a couple. These crows prepared a nest and they made it their home. In the same tree where their nest was, there was a black cobra who lived there.
There was a difficulty for the crows that shared the tree with the black cobra. This was because the cobra would climb the tree and eat the crow’s newborn each time the female crow hatched her eggs. Unfortunately, the crows couldn’t do anything to save their newborns.
The crows then proceeded to meet a nearby jackal that lived in a tree. The crows came up to the jackal to seek advice. They told him everything that happened and they asked for his advice and how to solve their problem.
They told the jackal that it had become dangerous to live in the bayan tree because of the cobra and they asked for advice on how to keep their children from being eaten by the cobra. The jackal advised them not to give up. They encouraged each other that they could overcome a powerful obstacle with their wit.
The jackal informed the crows how they could take on and vanquish the evil cobra. After thinking up a scheme, the jackal informed the crows. The jackal advised them to fly into the center of the kingdom not from where they lived.
He advised them to visit the home of a wealthy and irresponsible person. He told them that if they go into the rich family house and they notice something of value that is just lying around, they should pick it up The servants were observing them, so he told them to pick it up.
The jackal also advised the crows that the crows should fly slowly so that the servants could follow them. After that, they ought to return to their tree and place it in the tree’s hollow, which is home to the evil black cobra. Then when the servants reach the tree, they will think that the cobra took the item from the house and they kill the cobra.
Hearing the advice of the jackal, the crows decided to listen to his advice. They instantly flew off and started following the jackal’s advice. As the crows took off for the city center, the female crow spotted a wealthy woman bathing in the lake. The woman had left a pearl and gold necklace on the side of the lake. These jewelry were guarded by royal servants.
Then the female crow went down and picked the necklace with her beak. After taking the necklace, she flew away immediately. Then the servant noticed her and they picked stones and sticks and they were throwing them at her. The servants ran and they chased her.
Dropping the necklace as planned, the crow set it in front of the tree hollow where the cobra resides. Then she sat on the branches of the tree for the royal servants to take notice. The cobra, which was asleep, emerged from the tree to check out the disturbance when the servants arrived.
With anger, the cobra confronted the servants, however they started attacking him. The servants attacked the cobra with stones and sticks in the hope of recovering the stolen necklace. After hitting him so hard, the cobra died and the servants returned with the stolen necklace. The crows were elated to have gotten rid of the wicked cobra, who had been making them unhappy by eating their newborn chicks. The crow then lived happily.
