The tale of the crow and the pitcher is a classic tale in one of the famous Aesop’s fables. This story entails coming across a hard situation and navigating your way through it. The story begins in a harsh summer filled with scorching sun.
The relentless heat from the sun-dried the whole forest, leaving no water anywhere. Under these harsh rays, there was a very thirsty crow and he would fly from place to place in search of water. However, he found none.
The entire land was barren and it was very dry. The crow flew for days and he came across no water. One day as the crow was flying, he happened to come across water. He had searched and searched and alas he came across a glimpse of hope.
Not long from where he was, the crow saw a long and narrow pitcher. The pitcher was half full of rainwater. The crow flew down to the pitcher, relieved and excited to quench his thirst.
He tried to drink water from the pitcher, but was disappointed. The water in the pitcher was farther than he could reach. He tried all he could to put his head into the pitcher to drink the water, however he couldn’t because his beak couldn’t reach the water.
Being thirsty, the crow wouldn’t give up, and neither would he let any despair distract him from his goal. The bird remained strong in its goal. He wouldn’t give up on drinking the water from the pitcher. He thought deeply about what to do and while he was thinking he noticed the pebbles under his feet.
Seeing the pebble, the crow came up with an idea. The crow bent down to pick one of the pebbles with his beak and he dropped the pebble into the pitcher. He repeated this process for a while and slowly he almost filled the pitcher with pebbles.
When half the pitcher was filled with pebbles, the crow managed to reach the water and drink, as the level rose high enough for it. Once it was high enough, the crow put his beak into the pitcher and he drank the water. The crow was more than delighted after quenching its thirst.. This story teaches about how to help yourself in any hard situations.
