The story of the dog and the sheep is a classic children’s tale that starts with a farmer. He had a herd of sheep and also a dog. The farmer named the dog Tony and one day the dog was playing outside in the sun. The little dog had a bone with him and he was busy with this.
While the dog was busy with the bone, the farmer wasn’t around. All the farmer’s sheep were talking to each other and they were working hard. The dog was busy, and the sheep were a little farther away. One of the sheep talked about how the dog only gets to play all day long while they work hard.
The sheep told another sheep and they both agreed that the dog only got to play all day while they worked. After listening to this, the other sheep saw this and they realized that it was true, they all worked while only getting to play.
The sheep said that he must do something about this situation and the rest agreed. They all agreed to talk to the farmer about their situation. In the evening, when the farmer came home, the herd of sheep went to meet him.
The herd of sheep all expressed how they weren’t happy about the current situation. They told the farmer that he would reward Tony with lots of food and gifts for being a good dog. While they got nothing. They would provide wool and milk for the farmer yet he didn’t appreciate them.
After listening to their complaints the farmer acknowledged that he had wronged the sheep by not appreciating them. The farmer told them that he had heard their complaints and he would make amends. Hearing this, the sheep were more than happy.
The sheep were looking forward to the goodies that the farmer would give them. But they were surprised by what they saw. When the farmer was going out, he took the dog with him and left the sheep alone.
The sheep were alone in the evening, and the farmer had not returned home. Not long after, they heard a wolf’s voice and they were frightened. The sheep were scared and they thought that the wolf was on his way to eat them.
Out of nowhere, the dog appeared and he barked at the wolf. The barking scared the wolf and he ran away. After sending the wolf away, the sheep all praised the dog. They thanked him for saving their lives and they were happy.
The dog then asked the sheep if they thought that he was still lazy. The sheep replied that he wasn’t lazy and now they understood why the farmer would praise him. What the sheep didn’t know was that the dog was very important on the farm.
The farmer placed him on the farm to help protect the sheep and save them from any potential threat. Knowing this, the sheep all knew that Tony wasn’t lazy and he was very important to them.
