The story of the frog and the mouse starts with two friends. These friends were close and one could say that they were inseparable. The friends would often meet at the house of the mouse and they would share whatever they had with each other.
The two friends would share the groceries that the mouse had stocked in his house. One faithful day, the frog invited his trusty friend, the mouse to come to his house. He told the mouse that he went over to his house all the time and now it was time for the mouse to come over to his own house.
His home was located far across the stream, the mouse informed the frog. He told his friend that he didn’t know how to swim so it would be difficult for him to come over to his house.
The frog helped his friend with his panic and his fear. He told him not to be scared and that he would help him with the situation. The frog then explained the whole plan to his friend. He told him that he would climb his back and tie him with a string. This way, he would be able to cross the stream safely.
Hearing the plan, the mouse agreed to it and they both left for the frog’s house. While they were halfway to the frog’s house, the frog had a plan of his own. The frog thought of killing his friend so that he could have all of his food to himself.
He thought to himself that if he dropped the mouse and let him drown, he would have all this food to himself. Once he had all his food, then he would never be hungry again. This was what the frog told himself.
And so the frog went down in the river and soon the mouse was able to tell that his friend was dishonest. The mouse started shouting and asked if anyone was around to help him. Afterward, a hawk who was flying above the river saw the mouse who was shouting for help.
Seeing the mouse, the hawk flew down and he was able to rescue the mouse. He dived into the river and he got the mouse out. The hawk then used his beak to carry the mouse and they both flew to the sky. Meanwhile, the frog was still at the back of the mouse.
After being rescued the frog realized that he had been a greedy friend all along and because of his gluttony he lost the only friend he had.
