The Greedy Dog

The story of the greedy dog is a classic tale. It starts with a homeless dog who lives under stress. The dog is greedy and suffers from his greed and gluttony. The dog had promised himself that he would eliminate the habit of gluttony. However, he would relapse and forget the promise that he had made to himself and he would be greedier than he was before.

The Greedy Dog

One faithful day, the greedy dog was hungry so he left to search for food. The dog went to the other end of the bridge outside where he lived. To get to the other side he would have to climb a wooden bridge and then start searching for food to eat.

Thankfully, the dog managed to locate some food. The dog found a huge meat and he held on to it tightly. He held onto it so tightly so that other dogs wouldn’t find it. As the greedy dog was ready to eat the bone, he noticed something.

The dog realized that if his friends were present while he was eating the bone, then he would have no other choice than to share the meat bone with them. So, the dog decided to keep the bone in his house and once his friends had left, he would eat it all by himself.

As the dog was about the leave for his house, he passed the wooden bridge and saw a dog who also had a meat bone clutched in his teeth. The dog was a very greedy and stingy dog. Seeing that another dog had a new meat bone, he wanted to take that bone as well.

The greedy dog barked at the second dog to drop his bone. His lips opened to bark at the other dog, but the bone dropped into the river. The second dog he saw in the river merely saw a reflection of himself, but the dog was unaware of this.

The second dog wasn’t even a real dog. Because of this selfishness and greed the had lost the only meal that he had. The dog had no choice but to return back to his house empty handed. Because of his greed, the dog had learnt a lesson.

This story’s lesson is to always be grateful for what we already have. You can achieve anything you desire if you put in the necessary effort.
