The story of the sparrow and the peacock begins in the forest. Inside the forest lived a sparrow. The king of the birds received daily visits from the sparrow. He would be the first one to leave and once he was done, he would also be the last one to return back home.
One day, a group of birds gathered and one of them said that they needed a new ruler. The bird mentioned that they were all different species of bird and only a ruler would be able to unite them. When the sparrow heard this, he decided to offer his advice.
After discussion, the birds agreed that their new ruler would be the peacock. While they made the agreement, the sparrow made an important contribution. The other birds also agreed to this and soon after the peacock was made the new ruler.
When the peacock became the new king, the sparrow would visit him every day. The peacock even made the sparrow his secretary. As the king’s secretary, the sparrow would advise the king and he would also offer him food and drink.
One fateful day, the sparrow was an hour late to the meeting and this worried the peacock. When the sparrow showed up, the peacock asked about his whereabouts. The sparrow narrated what happened to the peacock.
The sparrow told the peacock that a man showed up at his house while he was about to leave. He also told the peacock that the man was setting up a net and scattering grains on the floor. The sparrow explained to the king that he had to stay and watch what he was doing.
He told the peacock that a crane and his wife went to eat the grains scattered on the floor, and before you know it, a net trap caught them, and the man took them away. The sparrow told the peacock that the man came and he took them away.
The sparrow was terrified. However, the peacock assured him that he would be safe. The king advised the sparrow not to leave his house because he would make sure to handle everything. Hearing this, the sparrow had faith in the peacock and he went back to his house.
However, since that day, the sparrow watched his steps and he was very careful whenever he was going out. One fateful day, when the sparrow was out to meet the peacock, he saw some birds fighting. The sparrow went to separate them because he couldn’t stand them fighting.
However, as the sparrow got closer, a man threw his net at them and he picked them up. When the hunter caught them, he told his assistant to keep an eye on the peacock’s assistant. The hunter told his assistant that he had seen the biggest bird, the sparrow. Hearing this, the sparrow cursed the king and regretted ever trusting him and now he was in danger.
