The story of the twin sisters begins in a simple village. In this village, there were two identical buildings. People found it strange how two houses right next to each other can be so identical and they decided to call the houses the twin houses.
The house with blooming flowers was covered in flowers and had a lovely garden, while the other house had no flowers. The owners of the house were also identical and people called them the twins. Both twins had similar personalities just like the exterior of their house.
Rose and Natalie, the twins, were identical. Although the twins were identical, they still had their own differences. People could tell them apart because they had different personalities. Natalie was cheerful and all who came across her loved her personality.
Natalie lived in a house with beautiful flowers and a lovely garden. Her house reflected her personality. Rose on the other hand lived in a house with no garden. She had a cold personality and was unfriendly. People in the village would refer to her as the grouch and they would call her twin sister “Natalie sunshine”
Everyone in the village loved Natalie, both young and old because she was always kind to them and she treated everyone with respect. She would often hand out sweets to the little children. Natalie would pat their hair and she would play with the children.
Meanwhile, Rose was feared by the children in the village. Each time the children ran to meet Rose she would scold them. Because of this, the children in the village were all terrified of her. Rose was always lonely because no one went to meet her.
Rose’s house was boring and empty because she had no company. Meanwhile, only laughter and chattering could be heard in Natalie’s house. She had company all the time because she was friendly and accommodating.
One lonely night, Rose was sitting by her window while staring at her sister’s house across the streets. Her sister’s guests were showing up with gift baskets and flowers. This made Rose very angry.
Natalie came out of the door smiling, and Rose noticed that people showered her with gifts. People had gathered at Natalie’s residence to celebrate her birthday with her. For her, they all organized a surprise party.
Rose stood in her house and she watched everything unfold right in front of eyes. Her sister’s loud music and cheerful noise bothered her.
When the party was over, Rose noticed her sister gathering all the gifts she had received and she was putting them in a basket. Natalie went to her sister’s house to share some of the gifts she received from the guest. Seeing her sister at her doorstep, Rose was angry from all the noise and she also refused to accept any gift from her sister.
Rose told her sister that she wished she would understand what she was going through and feel what was in her heart. She told her sister that she was annoyed by the noise the children were making and that none of the gifts could make her happy.
Natalie told her sister that she had an idea that would cheer her up after hearing it. She told her sister that they should switch places and pretend to be one and another for a short while. Natalie told her sister that’s he would live like her and her sister would do the same.
Rose agreed to this and they swap places for three days just like they had planned. She pretended to act like her sister Natalie. Rose would smile each time she saw people. She would also play with the little children.
Rose went to bed in Natalie’s house while Natalie remained in Rose’s house but she didn’t go to bed. She walked about in the house and was busy with chores. Natalie cleaned the house, put flowers in the vase, and hung neat curtains at the windows.
Natalie greeted them with a frown, surprised that people had arrived. When she realized that she had switched positions, she immediately smiled. After they left, Rose was happy because she had company.
People were surprised when they saw someone putting flowers around Rose’s house. Rose smiled at them. Unbeknownst to them it was Natalie and she had switched places with her sister. She greeted them, and they were shocked.
The neighbors all noticed how Rose had changed and they decided to visit her with gifts. Meanwhile, Natalie had invited Rose back to her home to show her the arrangements she made around the house. When they heard a knock on the door, Natalie offered to check who was at the door, however, Rose insisted that she would check who was at the door.
Rose greeted the neighbors with a smile on her face and they all talked till it was late at night. This was when Rose realized what she needed all along and this was people’s company. When the neighbors left, Rose hugged her sister.
Rose told her sister that being happy was better than being miserable and Natalie told her that to be happy, you need to make other happy and the more happiness you bring to other people, the more joy you will receive.
Afterwards, the twins were both cheerful and people couldn’t tell them apart. Since that day, people referred to them as the cheery twins.
