This story of the two fishes and a frog starts with two fishes who are living in a pond. These fished were friends and they were quite close. The fish were also friends with a frog and spent a lot of time together. The fish and the frog spent lots of time playing in the pond.
The two fish and the frog were hanging out on the pond’s edge one quiet evening when they noticed some fishermen walking toward them. The fishermen had big baskets and nets with them and these were filled with fishes that they had caught.
While the fishermen were passing by the pond, they noticed lots of fish in the pond. One of the fishermen said that they should return the next day. He said that the pond wasn’t deep and it was filled with fish and they had never caught any fish in the pond.
The other fishermen agreed to return the next day and they continued their journey home. When the frog heard what the fisherman had to say, he informed his companions. The frog informed his friends that the fishermen would return the next morning and that they should figure out what they should do, whether they should hide or run.
The fish didn’t care about this. One of the fish said that it its nothing other than a mere conversation of some fishermen and they shouldn’t worry about it and there was no need to hide. He further said that even if the fishermen came back the next morning, he would hide using his tricky water movements and save himself and his family.
The second fish also said that he was just as talented as the first fish and with his tricky water movement he would be able to save himself and his family. He also supported the first fish decision and said that he wouldn’t abandon his family and the home of their ancestors for the mere conservation of some passerby fishermen.
This didn’t convince the frog who had warned them earlier about the fishermen. The frog warned them that his only talent is that he can foresee danger. He said that the fish might stay, however, he would go with his family to other ponds before it reached morning.
Then the fisherman arrived early the following morning. They cast their net in the pond. The fishermen had a big haul and they caught lots of fish, tortoises, crabs, and frogs. The two friendly fishes with the frog tried to escape, but none of their water tricks succeeded.
The fishermen caught the two fishes and by the time they dragged their net onto the pond’s bank, the fish were already dead. These two fishes were among the biggest of the fishes that the fishermen caught. Because of these the fishermen displayed them with pride.
The fishermen then carried the fish separately as they were heading home. Meanwhile, their friend the frog had found a shelter for him and his family. The frog was worried for his friends and thus he came to the surface. However, what he saw was the fishermen leaving with these two friends.
The frog then revealed to his spouse that while the fish possessed great talent, they were missing one very crucial talent. He claimed that his only talent was what kept him alive.
