The story of the stubborn hunter is a classic children’s tale that teaches children the importance of selflessness. The story starts in a forest which was filled with several animals that are known to mankind. Each of these animals lived peacefully.
A hunter disrupted the peace on that fateful day. He was from the neighboring village and he just started hunting down all the animals in the forest. The hunter managed to kill several animals. This scared all the animals and they would hide each time they saw the hunter.
One of the hunter’s favorite animals to hunt down was the rabbit. The man loved wearing the garments he made out from the rabbit’s fur. The hunter’s friends had warned him to stop hunting the animals in the forest, but he continued to terrify all the animals.
They all advised their friend, the hunter to stop killing the animals in the forest and allow them to rest. They told him not to hunt the little rabbits and other animals, but he ignored their advice. The hunter would shout at his friends and tell them to mind their business. He told his friend not to instruct him on what he ought to do.
One fateful day, while it was winter season, the hunter was getting ready to go hunting and so he was preparing the tools he wanted to use. Some of the tools include a knife, rope, spear, and also a bow and an arrow.
While he was going to the forest to hunt down animals, he was stopped by a sage. The old sage happened to walk past him and he saw that the hunter was carrying lots of tools. He then asked him what he was going to do with those tools.
The hunter told him that he was going to the forest to hunt down rabbits. He told the sage that he was going to use the fur of the rabbit to make a coat for himself. The hunter’s statement annoyed the sage, who then told him that what he was doing was a sin.
The sage told him that what he was doing was a sin because killing innocent animals was a sin. He told the hunter that he should refrain from killing innocent animals or he would face punishment. This statement annoyed the hunter and he told the sage that no one could stop him.
The hunter told the sage that he would not be punished. Afterward, he left and went to the forest to hunt. Meanwhile, the sage was still there. After a while, the hunter returned with a rabbit.
He then showed the sage that he had caught a rabbit while hunting. The hunter told the sage that he would kill the rabbit and use his fur to make a coat for himself. He even dared the sage to punish him. As the hunter was about to take his leave, his knife fell out of his hand and it hit his foot.
The hunter, hurt, let out a loud cry and the rabbit escaped. The man started to bleed and he kept shouting in pain. The hunter quickly realized his wrongdoings and he asked God for forgiveness.
Afterward, the hunter stopped hunting and instead, he decided to feed and look after the animals. He even started to speak to everyone with kindness and respect.
