The Wedding of the Mouse- This story opens with a saint in a jungle. This saint had spent his days worshipping gods and goddesses and thus he has achieved a high spirituality. One faithful day, an eagle flew past him as he was taking a shower in the river. A mouse was in the eagle’s grasp.
The eagle then dropped the mouse and landed in the saint’s hands. The saint rejoiced that God had saved the small mouse and was pleased by the turn of events. The saint also prayed to the lord that he should turn the mouse into a human baby.
The Lord listened to the plea of the saint and turned the mouse into a baby girl. This made the saint very happy and when he got home. He told his wife what had occurred. Both the saint and his wife were very happy and they showed appreciation to God.
They thought of the little girl as their own and they decided to raise her. The couple saw the little girl as a gift from God because they didn’t have a child of their own. The saint and his wife raised the baby girl with love and they cherished her.
They cared for the little girls and gave them only the best of things from education to clothing and others. The beautiful young lady was ready to get married after growing up for several years. The saint and his wife planned to find a groom for their daughter.
The saint then proposed to the sun god, asking him to wed his daughter if she agreed. The saint’s god wanted his daughter to get married to a special groom. However, the girl didn’t agree to marry the Sun god because she said that the Sun is too hot and it is also very shiny to look at. She then told her faith to find a better suitor for her.
The saint then asked the Sun god who could be better for his beautiful daughter. The sun god replied that the cloud is more powerful because his Sun is useless while it is raining. The very next day, the saint then called the clouds.
The saint asked the clouds if would he please marry his daughter if she accepted the proposal. However, his daughter wasn’t ready to marry the clouds. She said that the clouds are humid and that they are always wet. She then asked her father to find a better partner for her.
The lightning and thunder from the clouds frighten the daughter as well. She begged her dad to look for a better mate for her. The saint then asked the clouds who would be a better match for his daughter and the clouds replied that the wind would be a better match.
The clouds replied that the wind was much stronger because it could move as it liked. The saint called the lord of the winds and asked him to marry his daughter if she agreed. The girl also refused to marry the god of the wind and she said that she doesn’t think that the wind would be perfect for her because it’s too fast and sometimes it is too slow. She said that it is not consistent and her father should find a better partner for her.
The saint then asked the lord of the wind who would be a better match for his daughter and he replied that he should ask the mountains to marry his daughter. The lord of the wind said that the mountains are mighty and that he cannot move them.
The saint once again asked the mountains to marry his daughter and the daughter didn’t agree. She said that she couldn’t marry the mountains because they are hard and tall. The saint asked the mountain who would be a better match for his daughter and the mountain replied that a mouse would be a better match for her. The saint’s daughter replied and she said that she would marry the mouse. The saint let out a sigh and prayed to the gods to transform his daughter into a mouse so she may wed one. This concludes the story of the wedding of the mouse.
